Field Operations Team

Field Operations Management (FOM) team works collaboratively with all other teams in the 2021 Census program. The FOM team is responsible for the day-to-day management of field operations, allocating work to field staff, resolving issues and providing support to field staff as they undertake their work.  

Roles are available across several sub-teams that support FOM activities. As an Operations Manager you will lead a small team within the FOM to provide timely and effective support to ensure the success of 2021 Census field operations.

Contract dates between 13 July 2021 and 1 October 2021 

Training provided / no experience necessary. Ideal candidates would have a good understanding of their local community and an ability to flexibly plan their workload within allocated weekly hours. The main responsibility of these roles is to make contact with households when dropping off or collecting Census forms and to encourage online participation. Australian Citizens preferred.

These roles will lead and manage a team of Census field officers in your location. You may also assist with the engagement and recruitment activities of Census officers conducting the Census in establishments (e.g. hotels / motels). You will also be completing routine tasks, problem solving, and managing field officer workloads. Australian Citizens preferred.

Field Support Agent (APS 3) Canberra, ACT.

Temporary (casual) position with shift working hours across days, evenings, and weekends.
Canberra based. 
$36.04 per hour (including 20% loading) plus 15.40% super.

Field Support Centre (FSC) Agents will be responsible for providing telephone support to Census field staff. Census Data Capture Centre- Dandenong, VIC

The Census Data Capture Centre (DCC) located in Dandenong South, Victoria close to the suburb of Lynbrook is set up to process and capture data from all paper forms from the 2021 Census.  The DCC will employ about 200 temporary staff at the peak of its operation and will be a modern, flexible and diverse team-based work environment.

The DCC is in an industrial business park area of Dandenong South and comprises a combination of office and warehouse space.  There is free parking available both onsite and in the immediate vicinity. Travel by public transport is limited, however the nearest bus stop is approximately a 7-minute walk away.

Census Data Operations Centre- Canberra, ACT

The Census Data Operations Centre (DOC) is responsible for processing and coding responses from all digital and paper forms quickly and accurately. Coding is the process of assigning a code from a pre-determined statistical classification or code list to a piece of input information for the purpose of producing statistics. It is governed by guiding principles and processes to ensure correct and accurate information is captured. Coding is undertaken by both automated processes and by clerical staff using computer programs.
